1. Rinse beans removing any unwanted pieces. Add to Instant Pot. Add the onion, garlic, kombu, salt and splash of oil to the instant pot and fill the pot with water.
  2. Pressure cook beans/chili for 30 minutes. Allow the pressure to naturally release for 20-30 minutes. Remove lid and test beans to make sure they are tender.
  3. Remove kombu and discard

Notes: Be sure that all beans are covered with water before you cook, otherwise the top layer might be crunchy. Depending on the beans, you might need to increase cooking time up to 35 minutes.
